No F13 in 2010?

Dec. 10, 2009by: Eric Walkuski

While it was never really official - because the movie hasn't even been green-lit yet - FRIDAY THE 13th PART 2 just became a less likely summer release, as BoxOfficeMojo has wiped it off its 2010 calendar. It is now listed as TBA... Back in June, Platinum Dunes announced to those on the set of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (including yours truly) that they were eyeing an AUGUST 13th, 2010 release date for PART 2, even though Warner Bros. had yet to fully commit to the project. Unless we hear something else definitive, seems as though we may have to wait a while longer for more Jason Voorhees action.

In other horror release news, SAW VII 3D has locked up an OCTOBER 22, 2010 date. I don't quite get why they keep moving further and further away from Halloween; the Friday before our favorite holiday falls on the 29th next year, which seems perfect for the film. Alas, they've chosen the weekend before.

Extra Tidbit: If there is a Part 2, it will be interesting to see if Amanda Righetti returns...

because they know they'll lose a significant part of their audience to sunday parties and possible saturday parties. not many people want to sit in a theatre on halloween night.

the rest of the audience will be lost because the movie sucks.

Hopefully the next F13, whenever it comes out, turns out better than the last one. I'll be looking forward to it because, hey, it will be the 13th film in the franchise. Coooool!

I don't know how I feel about Saw VII. The last one gave me a little bit more hope than the fifth one did but they are bringing back the director of Saw V, which I feel was the weakest in the series.
