Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Doppelgänger Releasing, the genre label at Music Box Films, has announced the U.S. theatrical and VOD release of ALLELUIA, director Fabrice Du Welz’s (CALVAIRE; VINYAN) chilling romantic thriller that won every top award at the 2014 Fantastic Fest, the country’s premiere platform for thrillers and horror films, including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor.

Also an official selection of Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Films Festival, ALLELUIA features an unforgettable performance from Pedro Almodovar regular Lola Dueñas (VOLVER; THE SEA INSIDE) in a dark and fascinating love story based on the true-crime story of the Lonely Hearts Killers, which also inspired the 1969 classic THE HONEYMOON KILLERS.

Michel is a born womanizer and professional hustler with a penchant for wooing lonely, vulnerable widows and divorcees. When he meets introverted single mom Gloria online and treats her to an electrifying first date, she’s left completely smitten. Michel tries to swindle what he can out of the one-night stand, but his latest victim has other plans. Basking in the rush of new love, she frantically pursues him, witnessing the true depths of his depravity and offering herself as an accomplice in his seductive crimes. Having truly met their match in each other, the unhinged lovers embark on a deadly odyssey amplified by wild sex, unbridled jealousy, and passionate forays into the dark arts. This smart and gory shocker breathes new life into the lovesick horror genre to serve up a chilling tale of white-hot desperation and terrifying devotion.

ALLELUIA arrives in theaters and On Demand July 17, 2015. Opening at select theaters in New York and Los Angeles, the film will be available nationwide via cable VOD, iTunes, Amazon Instant and other digital platforms.
