What was postulated last week has now been made official: Mia Wasikowska will play the lead in Chan-wook Park's English-language genre debut, STOKER!
Wasikowska (ALICE IN WONDERLAND, THE KID'S ARE ALRIGHT) replaces Carey Mulligan in the film, which will see her play an eccentric teen who, while mourning the death of her father, suddenly must deal with an uncle who mysteriously appears...and the strange things that then happen.
Word is Jodie Foster, once attached, no longer is.
Written by Wentworth Miller ("Prison Break", RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE), STOKER is set to film this spring. Ridley and Tony Scott are producing for their Scott Free enterprise.
For Mia, she's keeping her temperature up...coming off a splendid 2010 (ALICE, NEVER LET ME GO). She also has JANE EYRE due in March, and has already completed a starring turn for Gus Van Sant in RESTLESS. Things are looking bright for the cute Aussie 21 year old!
You agree? Better yet, you dig the chance to see her in a Park flick? I do... in fact, I'm slowly falling in love with this chick. So talented, so unassuming, so cute...Mia, I'm here for you girl. Gimme a shout!
