Orlando Jones and Katia Winter move into Fox’s Sleepy Hallow

Orlando Jones (EVOLUTION) and Katia Winter (“Dexter”) are the first cast members to sign on for Fox’s upcoming SLEEPY HOLLOW series, developed by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (STAR TREK).

Based on the now-classic 1820 Washington Irving short story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the pilot episode will be directed by Brad Anderson (THE MACHINIST), replacing the previously announced Len Wiseman, and written by Kurtzman and Orci alongside Phillip Iscove.

In the script, Ichabod is described as a captain in the Revolutionary War who has been to hell and back. The former history professor finds himself catapulted to present day Sleepy Hollow, where he’s indicted for the murder of a police officer and forced to prove not only his innocence but make a wary detective believe he’s a traveler from the 18th century.

Hmm. So they’re throwing in a time-traveling element. Interesting.

Jones will Play Lt. Frank Williams, the sternly professional detective transferred to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a double homicide. Winter, who is fresh off her breakout role on Showtime’s DEXTER, will play the wife to Ichabod Crane and a nurse with the 37th Regiment in the Revolutionary War.

“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” has been adapted for film and television as far back as 1922. It last hit the big screen with Tim Burton’s SLEEPY HOLLOW in 1999 and the small screen with “The Hollow,” an ABC Family telefilm that also brought the plot to present day.
