EPISODE 8: Made To Suffer

THE HOOK: With Hershel's farm overrun, Rick and company are on the move again. They come across a prison which Rick feels would be perfect...once it's purged of walkers. But the dead aren't the only danger lurking in the shadows.

THE LOWDOWN: (The following column contains MAJOR SPOILERS, so I don't recommend reading this if you haven't watched this episode). Now THAT was an episode to be reckoned with! First off, I'm happy to see Tyreese hit the scene, despite the ridiculous walker bite intro (when are people going to learn). I'm a little curious how Rick and the crew missed that hole in the fence everyone slips into though, it's quite the oversight on their part. Dynamics aside, I'm glad his character's in there, but the guy I'm really holding my breath for is Abraham because he's the man. I'm happy to see Carl running a tight ship on the prison front, but dude's got to start looking at things in a "glass half full" fashion if he's going to become leader quality. He was a little too quick to imply Rick and the group might not be coming back. I mean hell, if he believes that it's one thing, but saying it isn't the sort of thing that boosts morale.

Rick's Woodbury incursion goes smoother than I anticipated. That said, I suppose the place isn't exactly Fort Knox, but they got in and out fairly easy. At least Glen and Maggie came out in one piece (though poor Glen's innocence is clearly gone), that's what I was hoping for tonight. Our Tyreese wannabe gets smoked, but I can deal with that because someone had to get shot in all that chaos. And nice break in reality there Rick. The one place you shouldn't lose it is in an all out gun battle. And seriously, if I saw who you thought you saw coming toward me with a shotgun I wouldn't have hesitated for a second. Back at the prison there was a funny tension breaker when Axel refers to Carol as a lesbian because of her hairstyle. I laughed my ass off. When IS her hair going to grow anyway?

Michonne continues to distance herself from the group, but we see both sides of the coin tonight. Firstly, she led them there for revenge, pure and simple. Sure, she tells Rick it was to save Maggie and Glen, but the fact that she goes all rogue and ends up in the Governor's room defies that logic. The showdown between the two of them was both epic and sad. I don't remember what happens to Penny in the comics, but you can't help but feel for the Governor when it comes to his daughter. He loses it with Michonne and that glass to the eye is quite the battle wound and an outright nod to the comics (loved it). Andrea's reaction to the heads all over the floor wasn't nearly as serious as I'd hoped. And it's forgotten almost as quickly as it happens when he gives his lame ass excuse about hardening himself to the horrors of the world. Yeah...sure brother, whatever you say.

THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 3's eighth episode is pure adrenaline mixed with gasoline that gets lit in the closing moments. I don't know if this situation will be the nudge the Governor needs to become the root of all evil, but I sure as hell hope so because his spine and nutsack have been sitting in the closet with a thick layer of dust on them for far too long. I knew Merle's lie would come back to haunt him and sure enough it did. The look of pure evil in the Governor's eye when he sees Merle was electrifying, but even I didn't expect what happens at the end. I figured Daryl would get left behind somehow, but talk about a jaw dropping cliff hanger that makes February (when this show comes back from hiatus) feel like a half a year away. This season delivered big on the its first half and I'm expecting nothing less from the next one. More characters, unexpected deaths and tons more surprises are still to come, see you in February.

ZOMBIE KILL OF THE WEEK: Michonne only kills one walker tonight and in case you jumped ahead and didn't watch the show I won't ruin it.

BLOOD AND GORE: Bites, hammers, shovels, heads and eyes--there's lots of bloody action tonight.

WHOSE HEAD BELONGS IN THE GOV'S FISHTANK: I decided to take the annoying character to the next level by offering to serve up their head to the governor's fish tank. Tonight's offer is Andrea, yet again. There's so much wool pulled over her eyes that she's all but blind now. It isn't until the very end of the show that she seems to realize something's wrong.

COOLEST SCENE: The Governor vs. Michonne. Nuff said. The look of disgust/horror on Michonne's face when she sees the tank full of heads was legendary, but I couldn't tell if she noticed her boyfriend and his friend's head in there or not.

FINAL VERDICT:

TELL US WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF THIS EPISODE BELOW!

Extra Tidbit: Carl continues to impress. He's one bad mother-f*cker!

I'd give this episode 10/10. Glenn rocks! This is one sure adrenaline-fueled episode. Now that the Governor's pissed, Merle vs. Daryl and Rick and his gang making back to the prison? Dam* you AMC for making us wait until February! I can't hardly wait.

Great Episode

But the writing is on the wall Merle will be an inside man in the prison for the Governor, gonna be a line in the sand between him and Daryl. You know they cannot let him in the prison after what he did to Glen. But man this season is kicking the shit out of last season. Hope the second half continues this momentum.

Fabulous episdoe. The Michonne/Gov throwdown was fucking epic. I was actually quite surprised at how easily Ricks group kicked the living shit outta Woodbury. With the way things went down with Merle, Im wondering if Merle might have a change of heart and maybe, JUST maybe find a spot in Ricks group. Im guessing the Gov is going to get his shit together fast and probably by season end have some serious payback for Rick and company coming.

LOVED IT!

My wife and I loved the episode. At first, when the Gov and Michone were talking (with Penny - still upright - between them), I expected him to push them both into the cage. Glad he didn't cause that was one hell of a fight. Glad to see Daryl in the previews for the next episode so at least we know he gets free.

P.S. Your Michonne and the fish tank also made me wonder. She focused on the head from the chopper accident at the beginning...how did she NOT see her boys?!
