Paul Schrader's violent revenge film The Jesuit gets new promo poster & synopsis

Feb. 4, 2011by: Jake Dee

Back in November we dropped word of Paul Schrader getting into the revenge game, doing so with a hard-edged thriller called THE JESUIT. The film - starring Willem Dafoe, Paz Vega (below) and Michelle Rodriguez - is still in pre-production. Even so, we have a new synopsis and a promo poster for the film have been made available. Check it...

Also starring Oscar Isaac, Manolo Cardona and Pablo Cruz - THE JESUIT goes like this:

Steal a man's child, incur a man's wrath. "The Jesuit" is this man's story. When Neto, a former mob enforcer, fresh from a stint in prison, returns to his family, he is devastated to learn that his wife Nadia has moved on. Vowing to turn a new leaf, Neto works diligently to rebuild a relationship with his son Julio. But when Neto receives a late night call from Julio, Neto discovers that his wife has been murdered and his beloved son kidnapped. Worse yet, Neto learns that Nadia's boyfriend is in fact a dangerous landowner who gave Julio away to a mercenary group in exchange for clearing a large debt. With help from a local stripper, Neto embarks on a seek and destroy mission, crossing borders and cutting throats, desperate to find his son at all costs. The man who vowed peace is dead. "The Jesuit" has been reborn, and he's taking no prisoners.

THE JESUIT gets payback sometime in 2012.

Extra Tidbit: Schrader's last film was ADAM RESURRECTED, which he did not write.
