Peep the 4-minute sales trailer for Tobe Hooper’s new horror flick Djinn

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Just yesterday we heard about the international legal wranglings of Tobe Hooper’s new horror yarn DJINN. Thought to be killed and buried by the United Arab Emirates production company who deemed the material unfit, we now have a look at the almost 4-minute sales trailer for the supernatural chiller. Go f*ckin’ figure!

Starring Khalid Laith, Razane Jammal (below), Saoud Al Kaabi and Paul Luebke:

DJINN is set in 2015 and follows the story of Khaled and Salama, a couple who return home from America to discover their apartment in a luxury high-rise, built on the site of the deserted fishing village, is also home to malevolent beings.

I know Tobe Hooper’s become an effete reflection of his former self, but I must admit, this looks pretty damn intriguing. I dig how Hooper set his ghost story in the middle east, bereft of easily identifiable American actors. It also looks pretty grounded early on, which only strengthens the hold of the paranormal as the story unfolds. As someone who absolutely adores his early work, I owe it to Hooper and myself to check DJINN out if and when it ever releases.

Can you say the same?
