If you're among some of the lucky a-holes to be attending the Austin-based SXSW Film Festival, then you'll have a chance to check out an early screening of Showtime's highly anticipated new series "Penny Dreadful" this coming Sunday. So, while the rest of us have to wait until May to catch the first episode, we've got the next best thing, a new production blog featuring The Grand Guignol!

Theater was an important part of Victorian society and plays a key roll in the Showtime series "Penny Dreadful". Watch as Creator/Executive Producer John Logan gives an in-depth look at The Grand Guignol and discusses how he recreated a Victorian theater in modern day Dublin. The series will debut on Sunday, May 11th at 10pm. Two out of the eight episodes will be directed by THE ORPHANAGE's J.A. Bayona.

The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.

"Penny Dreadful" stars Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Hearry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani.
