Poster and trailer for Jim Mickle’s Cold in July starring Michael C. Hall

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Director Jim Mickle quickly made a name for himself in the genre with films like MULBERRY ST, STAKE LAND and last year’s WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, and now he returns with COLD IN JULY, a thriller starring Michael C. Hall. On tap today is not only the first look at the film's intense official trailer, but we also got our hands on the poster as well. You can dig on those below!

It's a great trailer that gives us a solid look at Mickle's thriller without giving too much of its story away, and we also get to see Michael C. Hall's mustache/mullet combo, and it's all sorts of epic. Seriously, you could kill a grown ass man with that kind of deadly combination. We reviewed COLD IN JULY out of the Sundance Film Festival so be sure to read it right HERE.

The official synopsis goes like this:

On a hot Texas summer night in 1989, family man Richard Dane (Dexter’s Michael C. Hall) awakens to the sound of a burglar breaking into his home. In a panic, he shoots the intruder dead—but this nightmare is only just beginning. Although he’s hailed as a small-town hero, Dane soon finds himself fearing for his family’s safety when the burglar’s ex-con father, Ben (Sam Shepard), rolls into town; hell-bent on revenge. However, not all is as it seems. Misled by the cops and desperate for answers, Richard embarks on an increasingly berserk, bloodstained quest to discover what really happened that night.

The film also stars Don Johnson, Sam Shepard and Vinessa Shaw. Look for it on May 23.
