Let's do a quick rundown on what we know about the upcoming horror-thriller from BLACK SWAN's Darren Aronofsky.
One, we know the film is called MOTHER! (with an exclamation point). Two, we know the film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Kristen Wiig (see below), and Domhnall Gleeson (interesting combo). Three, we know, via Paramount Domestic Distribution chief Kyle Davies, the film promises will deliver "thrills and chills". Four, we know Jóhann Jóhannsson will be composing the score.
And we know the synopsis:
A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.
Altogether we know a good bit about MOTHER! but have yet to see anything "creative" from the film yet. Until this past weekend, that is, when we were sent the first, gory, poster featuring Jennifer Lawrence ripping out her own heart.
Nice. God, I hope this is a moment in the actual film. And not just a dream sequence.
