June 12, 2017 will mark the 30th anniversary of the release of John McTiernan's sci-fi action thriller classic PREDATOR. Several months later, on February 9, 2018, Shane Black's "inventive sequel" THE PREDATOR is set to reach theatres.

France's Capricci Films is getting a jump on both of those dates, with plans to re-release PREDATOR into a limited number of theatres in France next month, on August 17th. The film has been given a new 2K restoration for this event.

Art promoting the re-release can be seen below, along with a trailer for it that was awesomely cut together and boasts beautiful picture quality.

If you don't know what PREDATOR is, I'm not sure how you missed out on it, but here's the plot description:

Major Dutch Schaefer leads an elite military rescue unit deep into the Latin American jungle to rescue hostages held by guerrilla fighters. But once there, the men encounter an enemy more powerful than any being on Earth. Relentlessly stalked by this unseen foe and stripped of his weaponry, Schaefer must draw on his instinct and intelligence as he faces his greatest challenge – staying alive.

The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Elpidia Carrillo, Bill Duke, Jesse Ventura, Sonny Landham, Richard Chaves, R.G. Armstrong, Shane Black (yes, the guy who's going to be directing the next sequel), and Kevin Peter Hall.

It is truly one of the coolest movies ever made.
