Priest director is…

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

Over three years ago we got word that a little movie called PRIEST was greenlit, with producers Mike De Luca, Sam Raimi, and Josh Donen on board a script by Cory Goodman (check that out HERE). Obviously that shite didn’t go anywhere… until today, that is.

According to Variety, director Scott Charles Stewart is now on board to helm PRIEST, with producers De Luca, Donen, and Mitchell Peck on board–what, no Raimi? They’re still using Goodman’s original script, so it’s a wonder what the hold up was. Money? Scheduling? Whatever the case may be, 2005 wasn’t the time for PRIEST… but apparently 2009 is!

PRIEST, based on a TokyoPop comic book, is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

That brief synopsis doesn’t mention this, but it’s a horror Western, a genre which seems to be getting hotter these days (and probably why we’re seeing the film finally come together). A vampire war set in the wild wild west? Sounds flippin’ amazing to me, and since vampires have gone the way of romance of late, it’ll be nice to see a true and blue vampire flick on the big screen.

Stick around for more info. and updates from PRIEST as it comes our way!
