Gerard Johnstone's festival hit HOUSEBOUND just hit VOD, iTunes, and limited theaters in the U.S. via Xlrator, and now we've learned that Canadian rights to the Kiwi horror-comedy have been scooped up by Raven Banner and Anchor Bay.

Twitch is reporting that HOUSEBOUND's Canadian deal was announced last Thursday night to a sell out crowd at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival prior to its rousing Opening Gala screening, but there still hasn't been word as to when Canadian audiences can expect to see it just yet.

I've been curious to check this one out as I've heard a lot of positive word about the flick. Now that it is available on VOD in my neck of the woods I'm gonna make it a point to check it out leading up to Halloween. Sounds like perfect viewing for this time of year. You can check it out on Amazon Instant right HERE.

HOUSEBOUND is directed by Gerard Johnstone and stars Morgana O’Reilly, Rima Te Wiata, Glen-Paul Waru, Cameron Rhodes, Millen Baird, Ross Harper, Bruce Hopkins, Ryan Lampp, Ian Mune and Wallace Chapman.

Kylie Bucknell is forced to return to the house she grew up in when the court places her on home detention. Her punishment is made all the more unbearable by the fact she has to live there with her mother Miriam – a well-intentioned blabbermouth who’s convinced that the house is haunted. Kylie dismisses Miriam’s superstitions as nothing more than a distraction from a life occupied by boiled vegetables & small town gossip. However, when she too becomes privy to unsettling whispers & strange bumps in the night, she begins to wonder whether she’s inherited her overactive imagination, or if the house is in fact possessed by a hostile spirit who’s not particularly thrilled about her return.
