R.I.P Jason X/Skinwalkers director Jim Isaac 1960- 2012

05.07.2012by: Eric Walkuski

Extremely bleak day in the horror world today, as we're all saddened to learn of the passing of director and special effects maestro Jim Isaac. He was 51.

Isaac, whose credits as a director include THE HORROR SHOW (aka HOUSE III), SKINWALKERS and JASON X, had been bravely battling cancer, which we wrote about last fall. His JASON X screenwriter, Todd Farmer, was evidently the first one to break the somber news via his Facebook account earlier this morning.

In addition to being an extremely capable director of B-movies, he also worked as a special effects coordinator, on films like HOUSE II, VIRTUOSITY and David Cronenberg's eXistenZ.

Isaac's last film, released in 2008, was the quirky backwoods horror feast PIG HUNT. A bonkers good time it is, and if you haven't seen it yet, you'd do well to check it out today in Mr. Isaac's honor.

I was a huge fan of the House movies as a kid (still am). I remember meeting Mr. Isaac at an event for Jason X and he beamed when I told him how much I loved The Horror Show. This is sad news. R.I.P.

Sad stuff, R.I.P. Mr. Isaac. I still dig Jason X, it doesn't get a fair shake in the horror community in my opinion.

R.I.P. Mr. Isaac. It's always sad when we lose a talented person so young. Jason X is definitely some campy fun and my next viewing will be in his honor.

This is sad news indeed. Although Jason X might not be a strong entry in Friday the 13h saga, I enjoy it a lot. Rest in peace, Mr. Isaac.
