RIP: Predator’s Sonny Landham

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

What a great way to start the weekend. Yes, unfortunately, we here at AITH must pass along the sad news that PREDATOR actor Sonny Landham has passed away at the age of 76.

Landham apparently died from congestive heart failure yesterday, Thursday, August 17th, in Lexington, Ky. Landham had racked up roles in over 50 flicks and was featured in films all the way through the 90s.

Landham was part Seminole and part Cherokee, and will always be known around these parts as Billy Sole from 1987's PREDATOR. But the man was also well-known for roles in such classics as 48 HRS. and THE WARRIORS.

Some of you out there may even remember that Landham at one point attempted to follow in his PREDATOR brethren's footprints – specifically Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura – and ran a campaign to become governor of Kentucky.

While he didn't secure that position, that didn't stop the man from running for Kentucky State Senate in 2004, where he was nominated for candidacy for one of the state's seats in the Senate.

Sonny Landham had a son named William and a daughter named Priscilla.

All of us here at AITH will miss the man who, legend tells, needed security on the set of PREDATOR to protect the other actors from him! Rest in peace, Billy Sole. This one's for you, sir.

Now take a moment and share with us your favorite Sonny Landham role by hitting us up in the new comments section below, or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.

Cheers, Billy.

RIP SONNY LANDHAM
