Don Calfa Return of the Living Dead RIP

It's a sad day for fans of THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, which is literally everyone who has watched THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. Don Calfa, who played Ernie the mortician in the cult classic zombie comedy, has passed away at the age of 76. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 3, 1939.

Although he is best known for the iconically weird Ernie, he has also held roles in major productions like WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S (as the hit man responsible for the entire plot), Steven Spielberg's 1941, Martin Scosese's NEW YORK, NEW YORK, and Peter Bogdanovich's NICKELODEON.

He has a role in the upcoming film LEWISBURG, a comedy-drama from director William James Kennedy. It will now be his final project.

Our hearts go out to Calfa's friends, family, and fans. May he rest in peace.
