There's something I find really appealing about movies that center on a group of characters who commit some kind of crime, sometimes accidentally, and then completely unravel while dealing with the aftermath of that crime. Whether it's the career criminals of RESERVOIR DOGS, the partying dudes of VERY BAD THINGS, or the country folk of A SIMPLE PLAN, I find entertainment in their plight.
That's why I'm interested in a new film called BODY, from directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, as it appears to be something along those lines.
A darkly funny and twisted journey taking place entirely on one unforgettable Christmas Eve, Body revolves around a trio of college co-eds whose dalliance with breaking-and-entering goes horribly awry. Sneaking off to a secluded mansion to party, the young girls are faced with dire choices after they unexpectedly encounter the property’s groundskeeper.
Following a freak accident, the girls find themselves entangled in a Hitchcockian nightmare steeped in tension, suspicion, double-crossing, and murder, where no one is to be trusted and a new twist lies around every corner.
The film's cast includes Helen Rogers, Alexandra Turshen, Lauren Molina, and Larry Fessenden.
Appropriately for a movie set on Christmas Eve, BODY is receiving a December release from Oscillioscope Laboratories. It will be reaching theatre screens on December 11th, followed by a VOD release on December 29th.
