Romero, Ward join I Scream Man!

The insane ice cream truck driver thriller I SCREAM MAN has been racking up interesting names since it was first announced. The last we heard, Crispin Glover had joined the cast, which already included Judd Nelson, Tom Sizemore, Haylie Duff, and James De Bello. Now director JT Mollner has added another two members to the ensemble: Fred (TREMORS) Ward, and the King of the zombies himself, George Romero!

Producer Nicolas Terry had this to say to Fangoria: “He hasn’t done this since SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, where he was uncredited. After reading the I SCREAM MAN script, he called his manager and said he wanted to do it, and he met with [director] JT Mollner over a month ago and had a good conversation about the film.”

Romero will be playing the bartender at Carpenter’s Tavern, which is located in Hooper, California. Ya see where this is going? Will there be a restaurant called “Raimi’s”, just ‘round the corner from Landis’ pharmacy?

Terry continued: “And in more great news, Fred Ward just signed on to play Vernon, the father of Haylie Duff’s character. We’re all very excited. I’ve always wanted to work with Fred since meeting him a few years ago. My dad is a huge fan, and was really excited to hear that Fred wanted to work with me. This little indie flick has picked up some steam!”

He’s got that right. I had never envisioned myself getting amped up for a movie called I SCREAM MAN, but when you’ve got a cast full of legends and B-Movie Gods (and Haylie Duff), it’s pretty tough to resist.
