Sam Raimi expresses his excitement for the ‘gut-wrenching’ Evil Dead remake

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Fresh out of Comic-Con we’ve been keeping tabs on Sam Raimi’s latest fantasy adventure OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL. Hell it was only yesterday we were giving you a look at a bunch of new stills from the flick! But of course that’s not Raimi’s only current project…

What am I getting at? Well Fede Alvarez’s EVIL DEAD remake, that’s what! As you should know by now Raimi, who directed the original trilogy, is on board this reboot as a producer. When MTV had the chance to chat with Raimi at Comic-Con they quickly jumped off-topic and asked the filmmaker about this highly anticipated reboot and how it compares to the original:

“We have a few more days of photography.”

“I don’t think about it like that. I just think Fede Alvarez has really made a great horror movie. It’s scary. The actors are great in it. It’s really gut-wrenching, real low budget and intense.”

Raimi also confirmed that the character of ‘Ash’ will not be in the film. If Sam Raimi’s behind it I’m willing to give it a shot. What says you guys? You feeling this EVIL DEAD remake yet or are you still against this one? Be sure to spit some bullets below and let us know!

Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas (below) and Elizabeth Blackmore, EVIL DEAD should be wrapping any day so I’m sure more updates will be rolling our way soon.
