Saw 7 Official w/ Director!

The SAW news just keeps on coming! Remember when I told you that there was already a script in the works for SAW VII? Well it took less than a week for Lionsgate to make it official!

Today Variety broke the news that Lionsgate is indeed moving forward with a SAW VII and they’ve already tapped somebody to direct! Who? Well Lionsgate aren’t branching off too far because they’ve taken a step back and re-hired SAW V director David Hackl to step behind the camera once again for SAW VII! This goes and offers all kinds of speculation… Hackl has been involved with SAW II, SAW III, SAW IV and SAW V in some way. He has nothing at all to do with SAW VI… so why go back to the man for SAW VII? Could Lionsgate be doubting Kevin Greutert’s finished product with SAW VI? Hmm…

It’s also stated that Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are penning the script, which we already knew. Now Dunstan and Melton are no strangers to the franchise either having penned SAW IV, SAW V and SAW VI. So I’m guessing Lionsgate are content with the duo’s work. The duo of Mark Burg and Oren Koules also return to produce, having produced every SAW film to date.

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen: SAW VII is a go with David Hackl directing a script by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Production is set to start this January.
