Scorpion Releasing goes big with Humongous Blu-Ray in 2017

For fans of Canadian slashers (and if you're a slasher fan at all, you pretty much have to love the Canadian entries, which include MY BLOODY VALENTINE and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME), Scorpion Releasing has a treat for you in the new year. In 2017, they will be releasing a Blu-Ray of the 1982 obscurity HUMONGOUS!

The cult flick is notable for completely ripping off the ending of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 and being an entry in the extremely sparse subgenre of Labor Day horror. For those holiday horror fans out there, this is a must-buy. It's really exciting that we now live in a world where we can revisit flicks like this in high definition, something I literally thought would never happen for a movie like HUMONGOUS.

Here are the special features that will be accompanying the release:

• Two Versions of the film – the R-Rated Cut (in HD) and the Unrated Cut (in HD with standard definition inserts)
• New interview with actor David Wallace
• Audio Commentary with director Paul Lynch and writer William Gray, moderated by Nathaniel Thompson
• Theatrical Trailer
• Watching in Nightmare Theatre mode
• Reversible cover featuring the original movie poster

The first 2,000 copies of HUMONGOUS will include a slipsleeve featuring custom artwork by artist Kung Fu Bob. They will begin taking orders next month. Check out the artwork below!

In HUMONGOUS:

A group of teens on a boat trip get caught in a dense fog and run aground on the rocks of the mysterious 'Dog Island'. They take refuge on the island only to find one of the group is missing and another is critically injured. Unfortunately they are not alone on the island. Something is loose… it's angry… and very hungry! 

HUMONGOUS was directed by Paul Lynch (PROM NIGHT) and stars Janet Julian, David Wysocki, and John Wildman.
