Martial artist and frequent action actor Scott Adkins (UNDISPUTED II and III, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, WOLVERINE) has landed the main lead in EL GRINGO. The gritty action flick is being executive produced by Joel Silver (THE MATRIX) for After Dark Films.
The plot centers on an American who crosses the border into Mexico with a bullet in his arm and $2.3 million in cash, looking to head to Acapulco and retire on the beach. But he discovers quickly that his plan is easier said than done.
Jonathan W. Stokes wrote the script, which Adkins describes as being in the vein of DESPERADO. It’s nice to see Adkins getting some recognition, and with a big name like Silver involved, hopefully it will have a decent budget and release. The film will shoot in Baton Rouge for a 2012 release.
