Joe Dante's 1981 werewolf classic THE HOWLING is headed for a bonus feature-packed Collector's Edition Blu-Ray/DVD via the Scream Factory later this year and we have a look at the kickass artwork for ya below!

While a specific release date has not been announced, Scream Factory expects THE HOWLING to be available this summer. We should have release information, including a list of bonus features, next month.

For those that haven’t seen the werewolf classic that is based on the novel of the same name by Gary Brandner, it stars Dee Wallace, Patrick Macnee, Christopher Stone, and Kevin McCarthy. The movie was directed by Joe Dante before he’d go on to make GREMLINS, and the screenplay was written by John Sayles and Terence Winkless.

From the director of Gremlins and Piranha comes the ultimate masterpiece of primal terror. Filled with edge-of-your-seat suspense, “genuine thrills [and] amazing special effects” (Us), this riveting werewolf tale sinks its teeth into your deepest fears and never lets go! Severely traumatized by a near-fatal encounter with a serial killer, TV newscaster Karen White (Dee Wallace) takes time off at a secluded retreat called “the Colony.” But when, after nights of being tormented by bestial, bloodcurdling cries, Karen ventures into the woods seeking answers, she makes a terrifying discovery. Now she must fight not only for her life but for her soul!”

Extra Tidbit: Where does THE HOWLING rank on your list of favorite werewolf-themed films?

EDDIE QUIST si one of the best characters ever much less just in a Werewolf movie. Instead of the same ole run of the mill' "I'm a werewolf, lock me up, I dont wanna hurt you" cliche, Joe Dante took Bradners character and made him a serial killer that enjoyed it n enjoyed makeing his victoms watch him , change n do his thing. Its too bad tey could not have takein the character furter, The Howling was bad ass
