Last week brought us the news that MANIAC remake director Franck Khalfoun was in talks to direct AMITYVILLE for Blumhouse Productions and Dimension Films and earlier this week we learned that FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH and SINGLE WHITE FEMALE star Jennifer Jason Leigh and HOME INVASION actress Bella Thorne had signed on to star. Now The Wrap is reporting that another young star is set to take on the haunted forces of cinema's most recognizable haunted house.
The Wrap has shared that "Shameless" actor Cameron Monaghan is nearing a deal to join Thorne and Leigh in the new AMITYVILLE horror movie that Blumhouse is producing for Dimension Films. Monaghan is in final negotiations to join the fright flick, though his deal has not closed yet, according to an individual familiar with the project.
Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse Productions along with Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands, while Matthew Stein and Alix Taylor will executive produce.
Dimension had planned on reigniting the popular AMITYVILLE horror franchise using a found-footage angle but that idea has been dropped in favor of a fresher take.
