Shia LaBeouf officially out of Transformers 4, Dark of the Moon scribe to stay onboard

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

We already knew that the fourth film in the TRANSFORMERS franchise would go in a different direction. Now, we’re beginning to learn the specifics on how it will affect the series. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Film Group president Adam Goodman officially confirmed what everyone expected – no Shia in TRANSFORMERS 4. It’s probably safe to assume that no other members of the cast will be returning. Someone else may be making a comeback, though.

In Goodman’s own words:

The story is going in a different direction now. Ehren Kruger [who wrote the past two Transformers movies] is writing it for us, and we’re starting to engage, but I can’t say anything more.

Yikes. Considering that many Transformers fans weren’t exactly thrilled with Michael Bay’s handling of the material, the announced change in direction raised their hopes for a fresh start. Now, with both Bay and Kruger returning, it doesn’t seem that much will be changing. It would be unfair to judge the movie this early in its production cycle, but then again… REVENGE OF THE FALLEN and DARK OF THE MOON weren’t exactly stellar in terms of writing.
