Sitges Film Festival touring America this October

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Held every October in Catalonia, the Sitges Film Festival has been specializing in genre films since it was founded in 1967. This year, the festival is teaming with the Shoreline Entertainment Distribution Company to bring a bit of the festival experience directly to genre fans in the states with the Sitges America Tour.

The cinema seen at the Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia can now also be enjoyed in the USA on October 16th and 17th, coinciding with Sitges 2015, thanks to the Sitges America Tour, a circuit including five different films screened around theatres in several North American cities. Yet another new step towards internationalizing the Sitges Film Festival, following another recent experience in Italy.

All of the tour's five films, which will be screening at theatres belonging to the Theatres at Mall of America company, will have been previously unreleased in the United States. The first title to be announced is Mexican filmmaker Isaac Ezban's psychological horror/sci-fi film EL INCIDENTE, which was shown at Sitges 2014. Ezban's feature debut, the film

tells two parallel stories about a series of characters trapped in illogical, endless spaces. Two brothers and a cop on an infinite staircase, and a family travelling down a highway that stretches out way beyond the horizon.

I think it's very cool to see the festival branching out into international theatres, I'm interested to find out what the full tour line-up will be.
