It's been a while since we've had any updates regarding STAR TREK 2, but for good reason. You see the talented J.J. Abrams has been insanely busy with a little Steven Spielberg production called SUPER 8, so it's completely understandable why STAR TREK 2 is on the backburner, though that's not to say it isn't disappointing.
What's even more disappointing is the news coming out of TrekMovie.com today. You see TrekMovie.com recently got a message from STAR TREK 2 scribe Roberto Orci that stated the following: "Just been waiting for JJ to be free to really decide if he likes the story and hear his suggestions before we finish the script. Once he says go, we’ll have it in no time. Meanwhile, our outline is detailed enough (70+ pages!) to do some prep :)"
This came in response to the rumor that the previous script for the film was rejected. Well it's good to hear the script is still kicking but what about J.J. yo?! It seems in a recent interview while out promoting SUPER 8 Abrams said he 'hopes' to return to direct STAR TREK 2, which doesn't sound like a done deal to me. Hey the man's a busy guy.
So there you have it folks. No telling when this thing will start shaping up but the original cast is expected to return, which includes the gorgeous Zoe Saldana (below). You can bet as soon as we hear more on this long-awaited STAR TREK sequel we'll pass the good word along to all of you.
