Star Trek 2 suffering more than script problems as it’s pushed back 6 months

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

So it was just yesterday that I was telling you guys STAR TREK 2 is yet to have a finished script. Months of waiting and all we have to show for it is an outline, a 70-page outline sure, but it’s still just an outline.

Well here we are a day later and it seems Deadline New York were able to dig up some kind of update on this whole ordeal. While it’s yet to be officially confirmed, Deadline are reporting that STAR TREK 2 will be pushed back 6 months from a June 29, 2012 release to a Christmas 2012 release. Now this has good and bad news written all over it.

The good news is this push-back is supposedly due to the fact that J.J. Abrams does indeed plan on returning to direct the sequel, and he just won’t have much time to produce something great with the June release date. The bad news is apparently the whole script might be scrapped and started over and… well… we’ve got to wait another 6 months for STAR TREK 2! This thing just seems to keep hitting walls around every corner. Hopefully once Abrams has some free time he can straighten all this out.

The original cast are all expected to return for STAR TREK 2, including Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana (below) but we all know how that goes. Mind you none of this movement has been confirmed but it seems like this is going to be the best option for the studio and everyone involved. STAR TREK kicked all kinds of ass so I’m all for taking it slow and putting out a quality product.

Can you really even doubt J.J. Abrams at this point? No, I didn’t think so. Be sure to keep it here as we shoot you every piece of STAR TREK 2 news that comes our way!
