Starship Troopers sequel Invasion confirmed to be animated! New poster is here!

10.13.2011by: Jared Pacheco

One franchise I just can't get enough of is STARSHIP TROOPERS. The original film is a cult classic and adored by many so I shouldn't have to sell you on that one. It's two sequels... while direct-to-DVD garbage in every sense are at least mildly entertaining. Hell what am I saying? I dug the shite out of both of them! So when an update crosses our wires on the fourth STARSHIP TROOPERS flick... well you can bet your bottom dollar I'm going to jump to tell you about it!

Now just over a year ago we got our first word that there would be a fourth STARSHIP TROOPERS flick on the way. And even back then we were told that it would be animated. Now I dig this franchise so much that it doesn't even matter to me if this shite is animated or not - I just want some more bug killing! Word today finally has a much needed update on this shite with not only an official title, but a badass poster as well! Hell we've even got a rundown! Natch!

A distant Federation outpost Fort Casey comes under attack by bugs. The team on the fast attack ship Alesia is assigned to help the Starship John A. Warden stationed in Fort Casey evacuate along with the survivors and bring military intelligence safely back to Earth. Carl Jenkins, now ministry of Paranormal Warfare, takes the starship on a clandestine mission before its rendezvous with the Alesia and goes missing in the nebula. Now, the battle-hardened troopers are charged with a rescue mission that may lead to a much more sinister consequence than they ever could have imagined....

Titled STARSHIP TROOPERS: INVASION, this latest bug-filled romp is coming from writer Flint Dille and director Shinji Aramaki. Joseph Chou is producing with Edward Neumeier and STARSHIP TROOPERS mainstay Casper Van Dien on as executive producers. To check out the awesome 'for-the-fans' poster I hinted at before just scroll on down below.

The flick even has it's own official website already, though there isn't much there. What we do have over at the official site is the first blog entry from the film's production. You can tap that right over HERE.

So what do you guys think? You ready for another STARSHIP TROOPERS adventure? What am I saying? Of course you are! We'll be keeping a close eye on this one so be sure to check back soon for any updates as we get closer to it's planned Summer 2012 release date. And don't forget - When engaging insects, use protection!

Extra Tidbit: Former STARSHIP TROOPERS stars Casper Van Dien and Jolene Blalock (above) would both be interested in returning to the franchise.
