Starz green-lights Sam Raimi produced TV series “Noir,” a live-action assassin show

If there were any other name attached to this project, we might have let it slide by the wayside. But since it’s Sam mothaf*ckin’ Raimi…we’re all over this shite like Fallon to a cheap hooker!

Deadline is reporting that the Starz network has green-lighted a live-action adaptation of Japanese anime series “Noir.” Sam Raimi and partner Rob Tapert developed the project with plans to produce. Word is Stephen Lightfoot (“Criminal Minds”) penned the adaptation and will exec-produce with the others.

The series follows two female assassins who team up to fight against a secret society. After discovering they’re mysteriously linked, the two, under the Noir moniker, have to work together until they get answers about why and how they are connected – or until one of them kills the other.

Producorially, Raimi is no stranger to TV. He produced the show “American Gothic” back in the mid-90s, and has since gone on to oversee such skeins as “Spy Game,” “M.A.N.T.I.S.,” “Young Hercules,” “Jack of all Trades,” “Cleopatra 2525,” “Xena: Warrior Princess,” and most recently “13: Fear is Real,” “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” “Legend of the Seeker” and “Zombie Roadkill.” Directorially, Raimi is currently in pre-production on OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.
