Summit Entertainment takes Soderbergh’s Bitter Pill, April start date eyed

A few days ago we cracked a bit more info on THE BITTER PILL, Steven Soderbergh’s newly announced psychological thriller. Upon both times writing about the film prior, no studio had been attached, but all that has changed with this here update.

Word from Deadline is Summit Entertainment has shown interest in THE BITTER PILL and is set to green-light the project under a $30 million budget. Paramount and Lava Bear were also in the running, but in the end, it looks like Summit and Soderbergh will be working together for the first time.

From writer Scott Z. Burns, THE BITTER PILLS is a potboiler in the Jagged Edge-Basic Instinct mold about a troubled and depressed woman who is taking serious amounts of prescription drugs to deal with the anxiety surrounding the pending release of her husband from prison.

THE BITTER PILL enters production this coming April.
