Sundance nabs second season of hit French series The Returned

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It seems that many of you really enjoyed the Sundance Channel's hit French zombie series "The Returned" when it aired last year so you'll be happy to know that a second season will be coming your way later this year.

THR is reporting that the Sundance Channel has acquired the U.S. broadcast rights to the eight-episode second season of the acclaimed supernatural drama "The Returned" ("Les Revenants") from Zodiak Rights. The currently in the works new season of the International Emmy Award-winning series will air in late 2014.

President and GM at Sundance Channel Sarah Barnett shared…

“Sundance Channel is becoming a go-to network for quality scripted television that's a little bit different to what's airing elsewhere. And 'The Returned' has proven to be an incredible addition to our slate. We were delighted with the overwhelming critical and fan response to the series, and we expect that Season Two will continue to seduce and chill audiences."

You may recall that we reported last September that A&E and "Bates Motel" executive producer Carlton Cuse teamed up to adapt a U.S. version so we'll be keeping our ears open for more about that as well. Until then we have a new season of "The Returned" to look forward to later this year. We'll keep you updated on news regarding the sophomore season as we hear it.
