According to Variety, Jack O'Connell (above) and Alice Englert (below) are in final negotiations to star in BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, which is being adapted to the big-screen by Richard LaGravenese (FREEDOM WRITERS, P.S. I LOVE YOU). Warner Bros. is distributing the Alcon production.
Based on the first in a series of Kami Carcia and Margaret Stohl novels - BEAUTIFUL CREATURES is set in the South about two star-crossed teenage lovers - a local boy, and a mysterious new girl who uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town.
Alice Englert, the New Zealand native, made her feature premiere in the 2008 film 8. The model/actress has Roland Jaffe's SINGULARITY in post-production and Sally Potter's BOMB in pre-production.
O'Connell, the English native, has been building quite a resume since 2005. He's appeared in EDEN LAKE, HARRY BROWN, has done a ton of TV and has a handful of additional movies in various stages of production.
BEAUTIFUL CREATURES starts shooting in New Orleans in April.
