Last week, director Denis Villeneuve's BLADE RUNNER 2 (not the official title) added Ana de Armas, who got her start in the Spanish film industry, as one of its female leads. Indicating that the film is going to feature an interesting mixture of international talents, the long-awaited sci-fi noir sequel has now filled another lead female role with Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks.

Audiences outside of the Netherlands probably aren't very familiar with Hoeks, but she could be seen acting alongside Geoffrey Rush and Donald Sutherland in the 2013 mystery THE BEST OFFER. Early next year, you'll be able to catch her in the Luc Besson-scripted action/thriller THE LAKE.

Executive produced by original BLADE RUNNER director Ridley Scott, BLADE RUNNER 2 is written by Michael Green and Hampton Fancher from a story by Scott and Fancher, who also co-wrote the first movie.

The plot is being kept a secret, but Harrison Ford will be reprising the role of Rick Deckard. In addition to Hoeks and de Armas, his co-stars will include Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista.

The BLADE RUNNER sequel is set to reach theatres on October 6, 2017.
