Tarsem Singh lines up sci-fi thriller The Panopticon

With an upcoming slate that includes the Ryan Reynolds-starring SELFLESS and an epic and ambitious take on the life of Marco Polo set to star Gong Li, you would think that Tarsem Singh would be too busy to take on yet another project, but that's exactly what the director has done as The Wrap has learned that Singh is set to bring his distinct visual style to Good Universe's THE PANOPTICON, an original action-thriller featuring sci-fi elements written by Craig Rosenberg.

Singh may be best known as the director of the visually striking films THE CELL and IMMORTALS, films that received only average reviews but performed very well at the box-office. His over-the-top style of filming, which has earned him as many detractors as it has admirers, seems to work best in sci-fi and fantasy movies where he can let his imagination run wild, so THE PANOPTICON seems to be right in his wheelhouse.

THE PANOPTICON follows…

…a seemingly ordinary man who receives a mysterious package containing a pre-recorded message from himself, warning that the world is about to end and only he can save it. He must race against the clock to piece together the puzzle before time runs out for mankind.

Andrew Lazar (GET SMART) will produce, while Good Universe co-founders Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will executive produce. Nicole Brown will oversee the project on behalf of Good Universe, which acquired rights to THE PANOPTICON from GK Films.
