Thirty-six years ago, Michael Jackson recorded a song that's a welcome part of any Halloween season celebration, "Thriller". That song achieved iconic status when Jackson teamed with AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON director John Landis to craft an epic, creature-filled, 14 minute video for it… a video that surprisingly premiered right after Halloween, on November 14, 1983. It didn't make it onto MTV until December 2nd.
To mark the 35th anniversary of the "Thriller" video, Jackson's estate has teamed with IMAX to digitally remaster the video into IMAX 3D for a one-week theatrical release.
Beginning on September 21st, "Thriller" will be showing in 3D on IMAX screens in front of director Eli Roth's family friendly genre film THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS.
An Amblin production, THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS was written by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke and is based on a novel by John Bellairs. Owen Vaccaro, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Vanessa Anne Williams, Lorenza Izzo, and Sunny Suljic star in the "spine-tingling tale" of
10-year-old Lewis (Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.
A teaser trailer for the "Thriller"/THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS theatrical event has been released online and can be seen below. Check it out, and if you want to see Jackson and the ghouls of "Thriller" popping out at you from a massive screen, be sure to make it out to an IMAX 3D screening later this month.
