British horror is always an enjoyable venture. You get disturbing violence and gore and dry humor. Like "I say, you've just chopped me arm off, ya bloody darby. It's a minor offence, that." I can't remember what movie that's from, I'll get back to you on that (note: no I won't), but we might hear something along those lines in THE COTTAGE, a new film from the UK starring Andy "Gollum" Serkis and a tasty little crumpet named Jennifer Ellison.
It's a crackling romp about a couple of brothers who kidnap a mob boss' daughter in order to receive a ransom. They take her to a cottage in the woods and are set upon by the mobster's nasty goons AND, here's the kicker, "The Farmer," a sinister presence lurking in the darkness... Also, apparently there's some scraping noises coming from under the trapdoor in the kitchen... Could it be... "Henrietta?!?!" (you all should know what that's from)
Sounds like a bloody good time. I'm a big fan of Andy Serkis, think he can play just about anyone or anything, and while this Jennifer Ellison is unknown to me, I'm suddenly a very big fan of hers as well. She's like, one of the greatest actresses that ever lived.
