The Crow creator wants Sam Witwer to star in the new film

THE CROW remake (or whatever you want to call it) is currently searching for a new leading man, after Luke Evans dropped out of the film last month. One name evidently being bandied about is Sam Witwer, who you might recognize from TV shows like “Being Human” and “Battlestar Gallactica”. An out-of-the-box choice, to be sure, but he’s got someone special in his corner: James O’Barr, the creator of The Crow graphic novel.

O’Barr is reportedly pushing Witwer on director Corin Hardy, and has been in active contact with the actor. According to Blastr, “O’Barr said he has been in communication with Witwer for some time and thinks the actor has the look and ability to portray the protagonist from his comic.”

It’s worth noting that O’Barr is heavily involved in the new Crow film, and Evans was handpicked by him as well. So he’s definitely holding some influence on the flick. That said, Hardy’s the one who ultimately makes the call, so time will tell if we actually see Witwer put Eric Draven’s leather coat on.
