I won't waste too much of your time with an intro, folks, because I know you're anxious to just see the bloody thing already. Of course, I'm talking about THE DARK KNIGHT RISES trailer - official trailer, that is. No bootleg bullshit, just Bats, Bane and Gotham on the brink of war in crystal clear glory.

The content of the trailer is enticing and mysterious; there's precious little explanation as to the film's plot, although we can certainly gather that the villainous Bane (Tom Hardy) is amassing an army of psychopaths and laying waste to the city, leaving only one man who can put an end to the brutal terrorism. I love the line "When Gotham is in ashes, you have my permission to die", courtesy of Bane. Some of Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle dialogue is plenty juicy as well.

As you now by now, the film - the final in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy - stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Matthew Modine and Morgan Freeman.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES opens on JULY 20th. To view the trailer in HD, head on over to Apple. Now WATCH!

Apparently, The Dark Knight Rises makes a comment on social class and class division. And, thereby, Bane is not an entirely unsympathetic character. Goody. I like intelligent narrative discussion. I like also that Catwoman exists between the higher class and the lower. She is both a socialite and a common thief. Perhaps, her liminal position gives her power over both wealthy Batman and mercenary/worker Bane.
