The Descent’s Neil Marshall sets sail with The Last Voyage of Demeter

David Slade off, Neil Marshall onboard!

Finally hitting the high seas of production is THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER, a vampire flick we first wrote about in May of 2009. Three years is a long time to finally hoist the sails, but at least we know a very capable captain is now at the helm!

THR has it that Neil Marshall (THE DESCENT, DOG SOLDIERS) is set to chart THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER for Millennium Films. At last glance, David Slade was attached to direct with possibly Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace. Now that the voyage has been rerouted however, expect a new cast to board the ship in the weeks and months to come.

Written by Bragi Schut some ten years ago:

Demeter was the name of the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker’s classic tale. In that novel, it washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving mad survivor. THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER places the voyage center stage in a tale that is reminiscent of the first movie in the Alien franchise, in which a crew is slaughtered one-by-one by a mysterious passenger.

Seems perfect for Marshall’s directing style, no?

Noomi cleans up nicely!
