The Gallows Act II confirmed by MPAA R-rating

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I've mentioned this before, but I'm always interested when the new round of MPAA ratings come in. I know with VOD and Netflix and whatnot nowadays ratings are becoming more and more an issue of the past, but all the same, I like to say on top of them as best as I can. And speaking of which, today we have some interesting news as several horror films have just secured ratings via the MPAA. And one of them reveals a long-rumored but until today unconfirmed sequel – THE GALLOWS ACT II.

Yes, THE GALLOWS ACT II has been rated R for:

Some disturbing violent content

Along with FOUND FOOTAGE 3D which has been rated R for:

Language throughout, violence/gore, and a scene of sexuality.

And UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB has been rated R for:

Some disturbing violence, language, and sexual references.

Are you interested in any of these upcoming found footage flicks? I guess I'm looking forward to the sequel to UNFRIENDED as I enjoyed the first one. I've already seen FOUND FOOTAGE 3D via Shudder so I can tell you that the film is good found footage meta-horror times. I don't know if anyone is excited about a sequel to THE GALLOWS though… I guess we'll see soon.

The original film began:

In 1993, a freak accident involving a noose kills teenager Charlie Grimille during a high-school production of "The Gallows." Twenty years later, on the eve of the play's revival, students Reese (Reese Mishler), Pfeifer (Pfeifer Brown), Ryan (Ryan Shoos) and Cassidy become trapped in the auditorium, with no way of calling for help. A night of terror awaits the four friends as they face the wrath of a malevolent and vengeful spirit. It seems Charlie will have his curtain call after all.

THE GALLOWS was written and directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff and produced by Blumhouse's Jason Blum, along with Guymon Casady, Dean Schnider, Benjamin Forkner, Chris Lofing, and Travis Cluff. It starred Reese Mishler, Pfeifer Brown, Ryan Shoos, and Cassidy Gifford. The film was released on July 10, 2015. No release date has been set (yet) for this sequel.
