The Lego Movie's Phil Lord & Chris Miller to direct Ghostbusters 3?

Mar. 20, 2014by: Kevin Woods

Earlier this week we learned that Ivan Reitman was stepping down from the helm of the long-gestating GHOSTBUSTERS 3 following the death of Harold Ramis, and would now be acting as a producer and helping in the search for a new director. While Reitman's departure from the director's chair was disappoining news to say the least, there is now reports that THE LEGO MOVIE and 21 JUMP STREET's duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller may be in talks to take the helm for the next GHOSTBUSTERS film.

Nikki Finke, formerly of Deadline, is reporting that Lord and Miller are being eyed for the directing gig for GHOSTBUSTERS 3, sending out the following tweet:

There's nothing solid yet, but considering this duo's track record (all of their previously-released films have gone on to gross over $200 million at the global box office and have been a hit with critics and fans alike) I wouldn't mind seeing them take a crack at GHOSTBUSTERS.

So how does this rumor hit ya? Spit bullets below and let us know what you think!

Extra Tidbit: Do you think Lord and Miller could deliver a worthy sequel/reboot?

Exciting, but please don't redesign the no ghost logo again... that's so effin' dumb. Keep the original.

Here's hoping!

I am still worried all the online hate is going to close this movie down. People don't seem to get that they are not wanting to make a movie about the original four characters, but a movie continuing the business. I've waited for a third movie most of my entire life and I would love the chance to be able to take my daughter to see this like my mother had for me. Don't give up Sony!

They seem like a nice choice. Petsonally I'd go with James Gunn. He combined horror and comedy really well, a la Slither.

Nothing has changed--I still thoroughly agree with this statement - that is to say - IF I thought this movie should be made at all at this point, which I REALLY don't think it should. There's MUCH more to it and at stake than getting the right director for it. Goes far deeper than just that...
