The Nobodies, starring Lane Hughes of You’re Next, comes to DVD

Lane Hughes menaced a family as the fox mask-wearing killer in the awesome home invasion slasher YOU'RE NEXT, but now he's the one being menaced in the Troma release THE NOBODIES, which is coming to DVD this Saturday, October 6th. If you'd like to pre-order a copy, you can do so at THIS LINK.

Directed by Jay Burleson, THE NOBODIES was shot on a mixture of VHS, expired 16mm film, and digital video that was transferred to VHS. It combines a faux documentary about the tragic death of a low budget filmmaker with footage from the filmmaker's own infamous, oddball movie. Hughes plays a character within that movie.

The official synopsis: 

In 1993, Alabama based amateur filmmaker Warren Werner shot his first feature film, Pumpkin, on VHS. With a budget of only $600, a cast of friends, family, and unknown talent, the movie premiered at the local civic center and generated an immediate backlash from the community. Rumors that Warren and his girlfriend Samantha Dixon engaged in Satanic rituals began to spread throughout town. In the months following the premiere, Warren and Samantha committed suicide. 

The following year, another group of filmmakers began shooting a documentary about the deaths of Warren and Samantha. The documentary project was never completed, and Pumpkin was never released. 

The Nobodies is Warren Werner's Pumpkin, in it's entirety, cut together with the remaining documentary footage of the director's life and death.

Hughes was joined in the cast by Bill Pacer, Henry Gilliland, Bart Hyatt, Aly Sutton, Ashtyn Wallace, LaDonna Allison, V/H/S/2's Hannah Hughes (pictured above), and Danny Vinson of The Walking Dead.

THE NOBODIES is also available for viewing on the Troma Now! streaming service, but the DVD will contain the following special features:

This is a very unique and insane indie production, and I'm really looking forward to getting a physical copy of it.
