The Patrick remake gets new subtitle, poster art; U.S. release announced

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Back in October of last year we learned that Phase 4 Films had acquired Mark Hartley's remake of the Ozploitation classic PATRICK and today we have learned that not only has the film been rechristened with a new subtitle, but that it is headed to select theaters and VOD much sooner than expected! Read on.

Our brothers-in-blood at Fangoria have learned that the film is now known as PATRICK: EVIL AWAKENS and will be hitting theaters and VOD on March 14. Very nice! We've also got a look at the new poster art for the flick below.

Directed by Mark Hartley, who celebrated Richard Franklin’s original PATRICK in his documentary NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD, the new film stars YOU’RE NEXT’s Sharni Vinson as nurse Kathy Jacquard, who begins work at a remote, Gothic psychiatric hospital and is introduced to Patrick, a comatose patient being experimented on by head doctor Roget and his second-in-command, Matron Cassidy. She soon discovers that Patrick has telekinetic abilities, which violently threaten the lives of everyone at the clinic.

Patrick, based on the classic Australian 1978 horror film of the same name, centers on a former killer who is now a comatose patient in a small psychiatric clinic. When a pretty young nurse begins working with him, she senses that Patrick is communicating with her, and he seems to be using his powers to manipulate events in her life.

I'm very much looking forward to checking this one out as I'm a fan of the original PATRICK.
