The Poltergeist remake will be haunting theaters in 2015

Jan. 14, 2014by: Ryan Miller

Twentieth Century Fox has just slated the upcoming POLTERGEIST remake/sequel/whatever the hell you want to call it with a February 13, 2015 theatrical release! That means if you were looking forward to this one you better be pretty damn patient because it's going to be a while before we see it on the big screen. Plenty of time to let it all sink in I suppose.

The last we heard about POLTERGEIST was back in September when Jane Adams had joined the impressive cast. She will play a parapsychologist called in to help the family find their daughter and identify the supernatural forces at work in their home.

The story follows the Bowens as their home is terrorized and their youngest child goes missing when a supernatural force takes over their home.

Saxon Sharbino, Kennedi Clements, Kyle Catlett, Jared Harris, Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie Dewitt also star. Gil Kenan is directing from a script by David Lindsay-Abaire with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing through their Ghost House Pictures banner with Roy Lee. More on this one when we get it!

Extra Tidbit: Do you have any hope for this one?

Why?

Watch the original or fuck off. Half of the charm of the original are the effects. We don't need to see it all half ass CG'd up. CG effects are boring, over used, and distance the danger from the actors, as well as the picture from the viewers.

Please, as a community, lets stop going to the theater and seeing these movies. Also, as a community, we should let it be known that practical effects are the way to go. I completely understand enhancing practical effects with CG... but some of these

If Sam Raimi has any involvement, it will certainly be CG'd to fuck and back [Spider-Man, Oz, even Drag Me To Hell (which I loved, but wish had more practical effects)]

Come on guys, just scroll up and look at that first image. Some shit like that wont be found in a Hollywood movie ever again. They need to stop trying to re-make, re-create, or re-image our classics (not many left that haven't been raped. Thank God we still have Rosemary's Baby.... oh wait). The only way they stop is if we stop going to see them.

Piss on this fuckin turd.

I agree wholeheartedly. CGI looks so fake you're ready to laugh at it. And I personally don't think their "Bowens" will have the same chemistry the actors that played the Freelings did. My two cents.

Hey, I am being fair. I gave a "neutral for now" on this news. However, February is not always the strongest month for movies. So, for that reason, Poltergeist-2015 does not look promising. Also, the 13th is one day before Valentine's Day, so Fox seems to be stacking the deck for an uninspiring project. Many couples will seek some movie to see together that weekend. Poltergeist might wind-up being it.
Sam Raimi is involved with this project. So, that involvement could help the project. We
