The Raven is now untitled, but gets an official release date

James McTeigue’s Edgar Allen Poe project starring John Cusack has just lost a title, but gained a release date… Fair exchange?

The film, formerly known as THE RAVEN, is now being referred to as “The Untitled Raven Project”. I thought THE RAVEN sounded fine, but I suppose it’s Relativity Media’s call. (Although shouldn’t it be referred to as “Untitled Poe Project”? Semantics, I guess.)

Relativity has also just bestowed a MARCH 9, 2012 release date upon the flick, so it has plenty of time to figure out what to call itself.

The synopsis: The film is a gritty thriller in which Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders.

The Untitled Raven Project also stars Luke Evans (Immortals, Clash of the Titans), Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter Series) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster). The script was written by Ben Livingston (Bruce Almighty) and Hannah Shakespeare (Loverboy).
