Having quietly made its way through production, KIDNAPPED director Miguel Ángel Vivas's remake of the 2007 French film INSIDE has now secured an impressive venue for its European premiere – the new version of INSIDE will be the first film screened at the 49th Sitges Film Festival in Spain.

Filmed in Barcelona and written by [REC] co-creator Jaume Balagueró with his [REC] 2 and 4 co-writer Manu Diez, INSIDE follows the story of the original film, which was written and directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury.

Pregnant and depressed, a young widow tries to rebuild her life following the fateful car accident where she lost her husband and partially lost her hearing. Now, about to go into labor, she’s living in a remote house in the suburbs when, one Christmas night, she receives an unexpected visit from another woman with a devastating objective: to rip the child she’s carrying from inside her. But a mother’s fury when it comes to protecting her child should never be underestimated.

Rachel Nichols (pictured above in P2) plays the pregnant widow, with Laura Harring as the woman who wants to tear the baby from her womb.

Bustillo and Maury's INSIDE was also screened at Sitges, back in 2007. While that film was a brutal bloodbath, it has been said that Vivas's approach was to cut down on the splatter and tell the story as more of a Hitchcockian thriller. The Sitges audience will get their chance to see how the remake turned out when the film festival raises its curtain on October 7th.
