The Resident with Hilary Swank coming to DirecTV - and theaters? - in February

Feb. 1, 2011by: Alex DiVincenzo

We're not quite sure what's going on with Hammer Films' THE RESIDENT. It was originally scheduled for a Spring theatrical release, then it was announced that it would instead be hitting DVD and Blu-ray on March 29th. Now it seems that there is still a possibility it will be play theaters.

THE RESIDENT will reportedly be available via DirecTV on February 18th. DirecTV Vice President Sarah Lyons says that the film will be "available to our customers the very same day it hits theaters." What's particularly interesting about that is that no theatrical release has been announced. If a limited release is coming, rights holders Image Entertainment best get to promoting it, as the date is only a couple of weeks away.

After separating from her husband beautiful young Doctor Juliet begins a new life in Brooklyn. Her stunning, spacious loft apartment seems too good to be true and when mysterious occurrences lead her to believe she’s not alone Juliet discovers the unthinkable…someone is watching.

The thriller is directed by Antti Jokinen, who co-wrote the script with Robert Orr. Hilary Swank (below), Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Christopher Lee star. Pre-order the DVD HERE or the Blu-ray HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Let's hope Christopher Lee's role in this is better than his spot in SEASON OF THE WITCH.
