The State’s Lennon & Garant adopt Hell Baby, Rob Corddry & Leslie Bibb to star

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Any fans of MTV’s “The State” out there? Congratulations, you’re officially old…

Deadline has it that “The State” alums Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant are set to make their (co)-directorial debut with the horror comedy HELL BABY. Word is Rob Cordry (above) and Leslie Bibb (below) are in line to star in the flick. Darko Entertainment will produce along with Sean McKittrick, Jeff Culotta, Ted Hamm, Peter Principato and Paul Young.

From a script by Lennon and Gerrant:

Rob Corddry and Leslie Bibb will star as an expectant couple that moves in to the most haunted fixer-upper in New Orleans. They call upon The Vatican’s elite exorcism team to save them from a demonic baby. Lennon and Garant will play the Vatican squad.

Interesting. You notice those weird STOOGES TV spots, where they riff on exorcism flicks? Well here’s another step…going full on horror-comedy within the exorcism subgenre? Not sure this is a true labor of love…it seems like studios have market research that shows exorcism flicks do extremely well, and projects are being born/marketed around that data. That said, Cordry is a funny dude, it doesn’t take much from him to induce some chuckles. Maybe HELL BABY will be genuinely funny.

More on HELL BABY when the little fucker burps up!
