The Walking Dead close to bringing on Lawrence Gilliard Jr. as a regular

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

“The Walking Dead” already went to “The Wire” once to bring on a crucial castmember – that would be Chad L. Coleman, who plays Tyreese on the show – and it looks like they’re closing to doing it again.

Take this with a grain of salt for now, as it seems like it’s not definite yet, but the International Digital Times is saying that Lawrence Gilliard Jr., who memorably played conflicted gang member D’Angelo Barksdale on the critically acclaimed HBO series, is in talks to join the fourth season of “The Walking Dead.” The site speculates that Gilliard could be up for the role of “Roy Stark”, a former army medic who is deeply haunted by his past. This is apparently one of the important new characters in the series; AMC has been holding casting calls for the character all month.

We should be hearing more about this – and all other things “The Walking Dead” – very soon, as Season Four will begin filming in May, with an October debut in the cards.
